This week, two teenage Johnny’s fans were arrested for assaulting another fan.  Such extreme behaviour may have come from extreme Johnny’s fans, also known as “オリキ (Oriki)” or “ヤラカシ (Yarakashi)”, but what is the difference?  Zak zak reports.

The incident happened on September 25 near Tokyo Dome, where two 18-year-old fans beat up a 14-year-old fan, sprayed her with hair spray, took her mobile phone away, and promised to stop it if she would cut her hair.  It has been reported the two had called out the fan after hearing rumours the fan was privately texting a Johnny’s talent, and had therefore broken fan rules.  The three had met each other on a fan club blog, and this was apparently the first time they had met.

A long-time Johnny’s fan in her 40s explained about these extreme fans.

“‘オリキ (Oriki)’ means ‘fans with 力 (riki, force)’.  They’re a group of fans who follow (Johnny’s) talents’ schedules more than four times a week, waiting for them to come out or go to their next job.  There’s a leader who keeps things under control.  There are rules like, ‘don’t stalk talents at night’ and, ‘don’t sit in the same train carriage as talents when they’re working’.”

“ヤラカシ (Yarakashi)” is apparently an extreme form of “オリキ (Oriki)”.

“It means ‘やらかしちゃった (yarakashichatta, they did it)’.  They’re not controlled by the オリキ(Oriki), and don’t follow their rules.  These fans will find a talent’s home address, stalk them day and night, and ignore instructions from production staff in order to try and get closer to talents while they do on-location work,” she said.
